In-salon allergy alert test protocol

In order to identify whether a client can have a colour, a professional consultation needs to be conducted.

If the answer is yes to any of these questions, do not carry out a colour service.

1. Is your client under 16 years old?

2. Has your client had an allergic reaction to hair colourant products in the past?

3. Has your client had an allergic reaction to a temporary ‘black henna’ tattoo or permanent make-up?

4. Does your client have a rash on their face or a sensitive, irritated or damaged scalp?

For salons and freelancers

Prepare

Mix in equal parts a small amount of product from Colour Sample (1) with Developer Sample (2) and create a thin layer covering an area measuring 2 by 2 cm onto the inside of the forearm.

Development

Leave the product on for 45 minutes ensuring that you do not cover or touch the treated area. Avoid contact with clothing.

Removal

Rinse off the product from the test site and pat dry.

Assessment

Carefully examine the test area. If there is no reaction after 48 hours, you can proceed with a colour application.

If you observe any itching, redness, or swelling on or around the test area, rinse the area immediately and seek advice from a medical professional.

AAT is valid for 6 months

Validity increases indefinitely by 6 months from the date the last yuv hair colour service.
